José Luis Cuevas (1934-) painter, draftsman, writer, engraver, sculptor and illustrator Mexican born on February 26, 1934 in Mexico City.

His artistic training is self-taught. It has been one of the main figures of the "generation of rupture" with the Mexican muralists and one of the most prominent representatives of neofigurativismo.

It's draftsman, printmaker, sculptor and illustrator. Before turning 10 years old, Cuevas is registered as irregular student to the School of the Emerald; continues his artistic training at Mexico City College, taking classes recorded with Lola Cueto. 

In the mid-50s, the work of Cuevas beginning to be recognized by collectors and specialized critics, including José Gómez Sucre, who invited him to exhibit at the Pan American Union (Washington, DC)...
